Cover: alternatives to Fancy Product Designer and Lumise for WooCommerce print stores compared

Key takeaways

  • Fancy Product Designer's maker says its 2026 sunset is complete: existing licenses run, but development and support moved to Chamevo.
  • Lumise is still sold for WooCommerce 9.x and WordPress 6.9.x, so a Lumise store moves for its own reasons, not because the plugin stopped.
  • Printcart, Chamevo, Zakeke and Kickflip all run on WooCommerce; Zakeke and Kickflip add a fee per custom product sold, Chamevo says it charges none.
  • Chamevo says products are recreated rather than imported; Printcart's migration service rebuilds options, design zones and templates and switches products in batches.
  • Test every alternative with a real order and open the print file before you switch your catalogue.

Why are WooCommerce stores looking for Fancy Product Designer and Lumise alternatives?

WooCommerce stores look for Fancy Product Designer alternatives because its maker sunset the plugin in 2026, and for Lumise alternatives when they want a different billing model or hosted features. Fancy Product Designer's maker says existing licenses still run, but its export and AI services are offline. Lumise is still sold and updated, so a Lumise store switches by choice, not by necessity.

The Chamevo blog post on the future of Fancy Product Designer, written by the team that built the plugin, gives three dates: support-extension sales ended on March 1, 2026, the Genius export and AI services went offline on June 1, 2026, and the migration discount window closed on September 1, 2026. Development and support have moved to Chamevo, its SaaS successor from radykal GmbH. The plugin itself is still listed on its pricing page at $99 per license, as of 20 October 2026.

Lumise lists its product designer for WooCommerce 9.x and WordPress 6.9.x, and its changelog shows version 2.1.2 with a fix for a security issue in SQL queries and optimised PDF print DPI. Its product page sells an Annual plan at $69 with lifetime use of the purchased version and one year of updates and support, as of 20 October 2026.

This article compares four products that keep a store on WooCommerce. Our WooCommerce product designer comparison covers Fancy Product Designer and Lumise themselves next to Printcart and Zakeke; this page starts from the point where you have decided to leave them.

What should a replacement keep from your current setup?

A replacement for Fancy Product Designer or Lumise should keep four things a WooCommerce print store already depends on: the products and their design areas, the print file that reaches production, the way customers upload artwork, and a cost you can predict. A designer that changes one of them changes your production, not only the product page, so test each one before you move.

The products. None of the four vendors here says it imports an old plugin's products automatically. Plan for each product's printing options, design zones and templates to be rebuilt, and count how many products you sell before you compare prices: Zakeke's Starter plan publishes up to 10 customizable products, while Chamevo and Kickflip list unlimited products.

The print file. The online product designer is what the customer sees; the print-ready file is what your press or partner receives. Ask for the same format and resolution you get today, with bleed where your products need it.

Customer artwork. If buyers send their own files, the replacement needs an artwork upload step with limits on file type, size and resolution, so low-quality photos are caught before the order.

The bill. A one-time licence, a monthly plan with order limits and a monthly plan with a fee per sale cost very different amounts at different volumes. The cost table further down puts the four side by side.

Which alternatives run on WooCommerce?

Printcart, Chamevo, Zakeke and Kickflip all run on WooCommerce, so a store can change its product designer without moving its catalogue, checkout or customers to another platform. They differ in how they are delivered and billed: Printcart and Chamevo are WordPress plugins with plan-based pricing, while Zakeke and Kickflip connect a hosted customizer to the store and add a fee per custom product sold.

Printcart

Printcart's WooCommerce plugin needs WordPress 5.0 or higher and PHP 7.4 or higher, and produces print-ready files in PDF, SVG, PNG and JPG CMYK. Customers upload artwork with merchant-set file types, upload counts, size limits and a minimum DPI. The store plans start with a Free plan, with the online designer on the storefront, limited products and storage, CMYK export and community support; Premium adds up to 100 products with the public designer, 500 order-upload file downloads per month and priority support.

For stores that leave an old plugin, Printcart runs a Fancy Product Designer migration service and a Lumise migration service. Both start with a free written assessment; the team then rebuilds printing options, design zones and templates in Printcart and switches products over in batches, so the store keeps selling.

Turn a WooCommerce store into a web-to-print business (video from the Printcart YouTube channel)This short Printcart video shows the plugin route to web-to-print: Printcart added to an existing WooCommerce store. Customers personalise products in real time on the product page without any external software, and the store exports high-resolution print files in PDF, SVG, PNG and JPG at 300 DPI. The examples include T-shirts, mugs, business cards, labels, stickers, photobooks and posters, for businesses from small print-on-demand sellers to B2B print shops.

Chamevo

Chamevo is the successor to Fancy Product Designer, built by the same team. Its home page describes a plugin that installs on any WooCommerce theme, real-time 3D previews, AI tools and print-ready PDF, PNG and SVG files with custom bleeds and safety zones, delivered to Dropbox, S3 or Drive. Its pricing page lists Starter at $29 a month with 50 orders and 100 AI credits a month, Growth at $89 and Pro at $199, with zero transaction fees and a 14-day free trial, as of 20 October 2026. On WooCommerce, each item in an order counts toward the order limit.

Zakeke

Zakeke's WooCommerce page says its plugin supports PDF, PNG, SVG and AutoCad DXF formats and lists Shopify, Wix, PrestaShop, Adobe Commerce and other platforms among its integrations. The pricing page lists Starter at $69.90 a month billed monthly, or $59 a month billed annually, plus a 1.9% fee per custom product sale with a $0.03 floor, and up to 10 published products, as of 20 October 2026. Zakeke also publishes its own Lumise alternative page, which offers a 14-day free trial with no payment required.

Kickflip

Kickflip is a product configurator that installs on a WooCommerce store and, by its own description, suits products with 5 or 200 options. Its print-ready files page says high-resolution PDFs are generated when a product is added to the cart, with print dimensions, resolution, bleed and safety margins you set. The pricing page lists $59 a month plus 1.95% to 0% per custom product sold, with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required, as of 20 October 2026.

What does each alternative cost in the first year?

The first year on the entry plan costs from $348 for Chamevo Starter to $838.80 for Zakeke Starter billed monthly, before any per-sale fee, as of 20 October 2026, according to the pricing pages of Chamevo, Zakeke and Kickflip. The plans limit different things, so read the last column before you compare totals.

Printcart's plan prices are on its store-plans page. A per-sale fee grows with your sales: at $2,000 a month of custom product sales, Zakeke's 1.9% on the Starter plan adds $38 a month, based on its pricing page. A store that wants the whole WooCommerce shop built for it can also start from Printcart's WordPress print shop store; the full-store packages start at USD 799 a year with the Printcart Premium licence and 10 of your products set up.

How do you move products from Fancy Product Designer or Lumise?

Moving products from Fancy Product Designer or Lumise to another WooCommerce designer means rebuilding them, not importing them: Chamevo says products are recreated rather than imported, and Printcart's migration services rebuild printing options, design zones and templates. Plan the move in batches, keep the old plugin live on products you have not moved yet, and check every rebuilt product with a test order.

  1. List what you sell. Count customizable products, design templates, fonts and clipart, and note which products take customer uploads.
  2. Pick two candidates and try them. Install the free plan or trial on a staging copy of the store and rebuild your two best-selling products.
  3. Compare the print files. Place a test order with an upload and open the file that arrives: size, bleed, colour mode and resolution should match what production needs today.
  4. Switch in batches. The Chamevo blog notes that an existing Fancy Product Designer license keeps running while you move, so products can switch one at a time.

Templates, fonts and clipart are part of the rebuild, so count them in step 1. The product designer feature checklist lists what to score while you test.

Which alternative fits which store?

The right alternative depends on what made you leave and on how your store sells. A store that relied on Fancy Product Designer's Genius exports needs automatic print files first; a store with thousands of low-priced orders should compare order limits against per-sale fees; a store with a large catalogue should weigh who rebuilds the products. The table maps common situations to what to check first.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to leave Fancy Product Designer now?

Not immediately, according to its maker: existing Fancy Product Designer licenses still run. But support-extension sales ended on March 1, 2026, the Genius export and AI services went offline on June 1, 2026, and development and support have moved to Chamevo, so stores that relied on those services need another route.[5]

Is Lumise still maintained for WooCommerce?

Lumise's site sells Lumise Product Designer for WooCommerce 9.x and WordPress 6.9.x, and its changelog lists version 2.1.2 with a security fix for SQL queries and an optimised PDF print DPI. The Annual plan includes updates and support for the first year, as of 20 October 2026.[7][9][8]

Will my Fancy Product Designer or Lumise products transfer automatically?

No vendor in this comparison says it imports them automatically. Chamevo says you recreate products rather than import the old plugin's data, with help for larger catalogues; Printcart's migration services rebuild printing options, design zones and templates and switch products over in batches.[5][3][4]

Which alternatives charge a fee on each sale?

Zakeke's Starter plan adds a 1.9% fee per custom product sale with a $0.03 floor, and Kickflip lists 1.95% to 0% per custom product sold on top of its monthly price. Chamevo's pricing page says it charges zero transaction fees, as of 20 October 2026.[13][15][11]

Can I try an alternative before I move my store?

Yes. Chamevo, Zakeke and Kickflip each offer a 14-day free trial, and Zakeke and Kickflip say no credit card is required. Printcart's store plans start with a Free plan that includes the online designer on the storefront and CMYK print-ready export.[11][13][15][2]
